Streetview Hotel, Muar

Streetview Hotel

I stayed at Streetview Hotel during my part time job in Muar, promoting Blackberry Smart Plan [click here]. According to my boss who booked this hotel, Streetview is a newly opened hotel in Muar. At first look, I was rather impressed as the hotel is built by restoring shop houses and it looks kinda heritage to me. Before that, when I was told it costs only RM80 per night for our deluxe room, I was pretty scare that I'd end up sleeping in a cheap motel. Thank goodness, it isn't one.

Let's have a look at some of the photos of the interior design (at the lobby) taken with the blackberry given...

Here are the photos of the room (deluxe room RM80 per night -promotion price):

My colleagues' room at night (lights on) - stolen from facebook

The toilet

LCD tv attached on the wall

Not bad, isn't it? Clean room, clean bed, clean toliet and not forgetting good quality LCD TV mounted on wall. For RM80 (promotion price) a night for a room with two single-bed, satisfaction granted! Especially when I'm not paying the price. LOL. The room is very comfortable despite the size of it and when I slept I didn't feel like waking up.

The hotel also provides free parking in its backyard. So, if you drive, it's another tick on the list as the streets in Muar here is kinda narrow and I noticed that parking is limited. Unfortunately, breakfast is not provided. But fret not. Since it's located at Jalan Ali, searching for food isn't a hard task. 'Wai Sek Gai' which my boss called it (the famous street at Jalan Ali where there were plenty of hawker stalls) is just within walking distance. Furthermore, Wetex Parade is also within walking distance.

There's only one thing that totally turns me off --- the hotel service. Well, when my boss checked out for us during the last day of our stay, the receptionist demanded that she pay extra one day fare as she checked out a couple of minutes late. Of course my boss refused to compromise la... What the heck?! Late for 2 minutes also have to charge extra? That really pissed her off. And to me... it's strictly unfair! If this is the kind of behaviour that the hotel is gonna keep, it will just gonna sweep their reputation away. After all, good customer service is an essential element of success for business nowadays, especially Hospitality Industry.

Anyway, those who are interested to stay, here's the address:

  1. Sure it's nice to have only to pay RM80 for such a big and comfy room even with LCD tv. OMG! It's so cheap. Wonder when their promotion ends.

  2. @cr3ap,
actually it's not big la... but for RM80, it's darn cheap. Well, I also have no idea when the promotion ends. I tried google up but can't seem to find its website. Guess they don't have one.

  3. Usually when you want to check out late from a hotel(after 12pm), you should inform them, most hotels provide a 1 hour extension at most at no costs. It's just that you have to inform them. By checking out late without telling the reception and simply assuming that 2 minutes late is petty was a mistake on your part. These people are already giving you a good deal, so the best u can do is adhere to standard hotel policies.

  5. @Anonymous,
Well, if we're gonna be late for quite some time then i understand that we should inform but it's only 2 minutes or so. And in my point of view, one shouldnt be penalised for 2 minutes late. we never know whether whose watch is the correct one and it's a pretty normal thing for watches to differ in time by a few minutes. it's not like 10 minutes. it's a 2 minutes.

    @khengsiong,
    yes i did.

That is why when i travel with family and friends, we always check out at least 30mins to 1 hr before time to eliminate such discrepancy in time keeping.

Just one question, if your final exam is at 9 am, would you take your own time travelling just to reach at 9 am on the dot?

  7. @Anonymous,
well... depends on individuals and the situation. You have your point but I still stand firmly on mine. :D

ps: if checking out late for 2 minutes required us to pay an extra one day fare, then when they are not able to give us the rooms we booked on time when we checked in, shouldn't they deduct one day fare too?

Well, so i guess that checking out problem wasn't the only drawback of the hotel. This hotel thinks that they can play with their customers by simply offering irresistible promotions. In the end you chose to stay, meaning you agreed with whatever they have to offer. That's life.
